Jon Moritsugu

I first heard of Jon Moritsugu in 2003, when a good friend of mine was enrolled in his film class at University of Hawaii, subsequently my old band ended up playing a show with his band Tiny Believers (comprised of Jon on Electric Guitar, and his wife/leading lady on bass, backed by a drum machine) I believe the music in the clip above were all composed by Jon himself.

If you are familiar with his film work, Jon Moritsugu is the man responsible for his american underground cult films such as, Mod Fuck Explosion, Fame Whore, and Mommy Mommy Where's My Brain.

Some of them are now available on youtube for your viewing pleasure.

He is working on releasing some of his older works on DVD, which were shot on 16mm and were previously available on VHS only.

Hokuto No Ken (1984)

While most of you in North America grew up reading where the wild things are, Mitz and I grew up watching this cartoon about a Japanese bruce lee mad max character surviving in a post apocalyptic future set in year 199X, battling glam rock bandits, punk bikers, and hair metal martial artists.

Electronic Cigarettes

The future is here. I'm pissing myself.

People are smoking battery powered cigarettes that comes with a USB charger.

On a side note, Bionic Eyes are now a new technology in development that has been proven to help blind patients see once again, albeit poorly, in black and white. Scientists are working on improving the definition to facial recognition level, hoping to eventually attain restoring color definition to blind patients.

I feel like we're heading towards Blade Runner territory here.

Inspiration for the new album

My dad as a teenager, back when he was a trouble maker. Age 17

Willem Dafoe in his first role, The Loveless, 1982

Rebels Of Neon God, 1992

A film by Taiwan Based Malaysian Director Tsai Ming Liang, Depicting 2 teenage delinquents in Taipei in the early 90's.

The keyboard synth heavy 80's score along with the motorcycle night drifting scene haunts me.
